Coolum Beach is known for being one of the more quieter Sunshine Coast beaches, and is a regular destination for locals and tourists that just want to soak up the ambience and take in the picturesque views. It’s got clean white sand, patrolled ocean waters great for laid-back surfing, and several beachside cafes to enjoy after.

Hikers and adventurers are in for a treat at Mount Coolum. This looming volcanic dome makes a great sight from all over Coolum, but offers an even better view from its summit. Although it’s a steep hike to the top, it’s great fun and offers no trouble even for first-time hikers. Once at the top, be rewarded by incredible 360 degree views that stretch far over the Sunshine Coast. It’s a must for those willing to hike.

Emu Mountain, also known as Mount Peregian, is another fun hike with great views to be enjoyed at the summit. Reach the top within an easy 20-minute walk, then enjoy a fantastic view over the ocean and Coolum’s lush hinterland. During October, Emu Mountain provides an unbeatable spot to see the migrating whales just a few hundred metres from the shore.

Find more fantastic views at Lows Lookout, a quiet lookout and picnic shelter offering a great view of Coolum Beach with Emu Mountain in the distance. Find it within a few minutes drive from the centre of Coolum, and make sure to pack a picnic.

Enjoy something unique at Yaroomba Beach, found in between Coolum Beach and Mount Coolum. This beach benefits from a regularly small amount of visitors, and makes the perfect spot to unwind and absorb the tranquil atmosphere.
